It's entirely up to you as to how you decide to approach the problem, of course.but that's the direction I'd be heading in. It's just the way Puppies work, and to the best of my knowledge, no Puppy user has ever yet caught any virii, malware, general 'nasties', etc.) So make use of that fact.and do what YOU want to do with your systems, not what somebody else thinks you ought to do. Linux, far more so than Windows ever did, was originally conceived to put control back in the hands of the user. Tsk, tsk, tsk' What a load of old codswallop. I'd download them, then unzip 'em to get at the contents. I'd have a scout around on for the items I wanted. As a long-standing Puppy Linux user, I'd just say 'Cobblers' to the whole business of Canonical insisting everything has to be installed with the official package manager (and all that jazz).
Y'know, personally - if it was me - I'd approach this from a totally lateral direction.
